Matthieu Duclos Lands First-Round Knockout in UFC Debut in Paris
Matthieu Duclos scored a first-round knockout in his UFC debut on Saturday in Paris. The French middleweight dropped Luis Felipe Dias with a left hand and finished the fight at 4:35 of Round 1 at Accor Arena.
The stoppage came on the prelims of UFC Fight Night: Hooker vs. Parnasse. Duclos entered the middleweight bout at 10-3, while Dias came in 18-5 and already 1-0 inside the Octagon.
The debut closed a two-year wait. Duclos first tried to reach the UFC on Dana White’s Contender Series on Aug. 27, 2024, and was stopped by Marco Tulio at 2:38 of Round 2.
He returned to Hexagone MMA, won the middleweight title in February 2024, and defended the belt three times. Four consecutive wins followed the Contender Series loss, the last a first-round TKO of Ilian Bouafia on April 11.
Dias was a difficult first opponent. The Brazilian earned his UFC contract by submitting Donavon Hedrick on Contender Series in October 2025, then stopped Yi Sak Lee by TKO at 3:40 of Round 1 in his own debut on May 30.
Nine of Dias’ 18 wins had come by knockout or TKO, and eight more had come by submission. He also gave away size, standing 5-foot-11 with a 74-inch reach against a 6-foot-3 opponent.
Duclos, 31, was born in Arras and trains at Woirin Team Elite. He is one of two French middleweights on the current UFC roster, alongside Nassourdine Imavov.
Referee Mohamed Khamallah started the 185-pound fight after a glove touch. Duclos took the center of the cage as Dias looked for early openings with kicks and punching flurries.
A spinning kick from Dias missed, and a head kick from Duclos only grazed the Brazilian. Dias then dug a hard kick into the body and pressed forward with punches upstairs.
Duclos tried to control range with his jab. Dias still found a right hand and kept attacking the body and lead leg as the round moved past the halfway point.
Another body kick and a low kick knocked Duclos off balance. He rolled backward but returned to his feet without taking a finishing combination.
Dias later drove into a clinch and held Duclos against the fence. The Frenchman broke free, reset in open space, and went back to the jab.
As Dias stepped in, Duclos timed a left hook that put him on the canvas. Follow-up punches on the ground brought the referee in at 4:35 of Round 1.
The official result was a knockout. Duclos is now 11-3, with nine wins by KO or TKO and five first-round finishes.
He has won five fights in a row. Only two of his 14 professional bouts have gone the distance.
Dias falls to 18-6. The defeat ends a run that had carried him from Contender Series into the UFC with a debut stoppage of his own.
Paris had not always been kind to Duclos. He lost by first-round TKO to Youcef Ouabbas at Bellator 280 in the same building on May 6, 2022.
This time the Accor Arena crowd watched him finish the fight. A debut knockout will not by itself place him in the official UFC middleweight rankings, but it gives matchmakers a clear look at his power and timing.
Duclos will wait for the UFC to book his second fight as the remainder of the Paris card continues Saturday.
