Kurtis Campbell Gets First UFC Win, Chokes Out Trevor Peek in Paris
Kurtis Campbell needed a third-round rear-naked choke to collect his first UFC win. The Liverpool featherweight tapped Trevor Peek at 3:07 of Round 3 on Saturday’s UFC Paris main card, becoming the first fighter to finish him.
The official result at Accor Arena was a submission on the second fight of UFC Fight Night: Hooker vs. Parnasse. The promotion posted the clip as dominance from the start.
“@KCampbellMMA locks in the RNC for the RD3 submission win!” the UFC wrote.
Campbell came in 8-1 and 0-1 in the Octagon. Peek entered 9-3 with one no contest and 2-3 inside the promotion.
The 24-year-old Pink Panther signed after stopping Demba Seck at 1:20 of Round 1 on Dana White’s Contender Series on Sept. 30, 2025. His debut five months later in London ended in a TKO loss to Danny Silva at 0:31 of Round 2.
That was the only blemish on his record. He had already submitted Marcio Valerio with a rear-naked choke at Full Contact Contender 41, and five of his eight wins before Paris came by knockout or TKO.
Peek, 31, fights out of Agoge Combatives and Pisgah, Alabama. Eight of his nine wins were knockouts, and his three previous losses had all gone to the judges.
He last fought on Sept. 7, 2024, dropping a unanimous decision to Yanal Ashmouz. Charlie Campbell had beaten him the same way in April 2024, and Chepe Mariscal did it in June 2023.
He had not been stopped in 13 professional fights. Saturday was his first UFC bout at featherweight after a lightweight run that started with a first-round knockout of Erick Gonzalez.
Neither man was in the official UFC featherweight top 15. Campbell was still a heavy favorite.
Herb Dean refereed, and there was no glove touch. Campbell opened with front kicks to the body and an inside leg kick, then a head kick that cut Peek near the right eye.
A one-two and more body kicks followed before he took Peek down. Peek stood, got dragged down again, and ate a slam, then a knee to the head as he rose.
Campbell took mount and dropped elbows. He took the back, set both hooks, returned to mount, and kept punching through the rest of Round 1.
Peek tried to jab and hook the body at the start of Round 2. Campbell clinched, dumped him, worked the back, and put him in a body triangle while threatening the neck.
Peek survived the round. He was already well behind.
Round 3 started with more front kicks from Campbell. Peek stuffed one shot, then ate another head kick.
Campbell ran a single-leg into the fence, tripped Peek down, and kept putting him on the canvas. He took the back with a body triangle, slid the arm under the chin, and finished it at 3:07.
The Accor Arena crowd booed the grappling. It still ended with a tap no one had forced out of Peek before.
Campbell had said before the fight that he wanted the stoppage. “If I need 15 minutes, it’ll be there. But when that finish comes, I’ll be taking it with both hands,” he told MMA Junkie.
He also framed the Silva loss as a one-night problem. “Kurtis Campbell isn’t just one fight. This is the next fight, and I’m going to show who I am. Just one little hiccup in the road means nothing to me.”
He is now 9-1 overall and 1-1 in the UFC. Two of those wins are rear-naked chokes.
Peek falls to 9-4 with one no contest and 2-4 in the promotion. The loss is his third in a row and the first that did not go the distance.
A third-round choke of an unranked veteran does not put Campbell into the official rankings by itself. It does give him the first UFC win he said he needed before he could start a streak.
Campbell will wait for the UFC to book his third fight in the promotion as the rest of the Paris card continues Saturday.
