Garcia has treated this week like a show he is producing. He skipped a Tuesday photo opportunity, ate on camera Thursday, and tried to smuggle the leftover punchline into the face-off. He also said the noise is just noise and that he is the better fighter. The egg says he still wants the viral moment as much as the knockdown.
Opetaia, who headlines the co-main event the same night, got a front-row look at the bit and laughed while it died in security’s hand. That is the picture of Garcia’s fight week: a world champion standing next to another world champion, hiding breakfast, then shrugging when he got caught.
Friday’s weigh-in is the next time they have to stand still. There will be no pocket egg if the same security is paying attention. Saturday is the night Garcia has to hit Benn with a left hand instead of a grocery item, and the night Benn has to prove the only thing he is bringing to 147 is a title challenge, not another punchline.
