King Green Says He Is Living in His Car Despite Nine Houses
King Green said he is living in his car even though he claims to own nine houses, with his friends occupying the properties. The admission matters because the 40-year-old UFC lightweight is on a four-fight winning streak and is booked for UFC 332 next month, and he described the situation as his life right now, not an old story.
Green made the comments on a livestream this week. He said he had already told Sean Strickland the same thing.
“I’ve been living in my car, I got like 9 houses. All my homies live in all of my homes and sht so I’m fcking living out of my car as we speak.”
That is Green’s account, not a public property record. He did not produce deeds on the stream. He presented it as the reason he has nowhere to stay: the houses, in his telling, are full of people he knows.
He called it crazy and part of real life. He also said the chaos around him does not stop.
Green said he was robbed of $300,000 in jewelry last camp. He had previously told that story around UFC 328 in May, when he said an ex took the jewelry from a house he had just moved into.
This week he added a more recent break. He said he had been staying with a girlfriend, then they split a couple of days ago.
“So, I’ll find a spot after this fight. I’ll figure something out.”
That is the plan he offered. No new address. No claim that the UFC is putting him up. He is fighting Oct. 3.
Green is 36-17-1 as a professional. He has been in the UFC for more than a decade and is coming off a first-round TKO of Terrance McKinney at UFC 329 on July 11, a finish at 4:59 that paid a $100,000 Performance of the Night bonus.
That was his fourth straight win, after a split decision over Lance Gibson Jr., a TKO of Daniel Zellhuber, and a first-round submission of Jeremy Stephens. He is not a prospect trying to get on a card. He is a veteran who keeps getting booked because the fights are violent.
Next is Esteban Ribovics at UFC 332 in Salt Lake City. Ribovics is 16-3 and coming off a knockout of Edson Barboza. The lightweight bout is on the main card under a vacant women’s flyweight title fight between Natalia Silva and Wang Cong.
How Green is camping out of a car is unanswered. He did not walk through training logistics, and the UFC has not commented on his housing.
What he did say is consistent with how he has talked about money for years. People assume a busy UFC lightweight is set. Green has said people come around because they think he has cash, and that he takes care of people until it costs him.
Owning houses and sleeping in a car can both be true if the houses are occupied and the relationship that was covering him just ended. It can also be Green talking in the same loose, public way he always has. He did not invite an audit.
The next date on his calendar is Oct. 3. He said he will sort out a place after that fight. Until then, the man with a four-fight streak and a claimed nine houses says the car is home.
