Ryusuke Onodera Wins Decision Over Khaidarbeg Gazuev at Lumpinee
Ryusuke Onodera took a unanimous decision over Khaidarbeg Gazuev in flyweight kickboxing on Friday at ONE Friday Fights 171.
The Japanese prospect went the full three rounds at Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok and left with the judges’ cards in a bout that stayed on the feet from start to finish.
ONE Championship posted the result as a unanimous decision after round three.
The pairing was one of two flyweight kickboxing matches on the weekly card, with both men chasing the kind of Lumpinee win that can lead to a six-figure contract.
Onodera entered as the more established Japanese name on paper. He fights out of TEAM TEPPEN and was making his second appearance in the promotion.
His background is full-contact karate first, then amateur kickboxing, then a professional start on the LEGEND circuit in March 2024.
He won LEGEND’s 2024 featherweight rookie title, later moved from Hokkaido to Tokyo after finishing high school, and joined TEAM TEPPEN in June.
He came in at 6-1 with two knockouts and already had Thailand experience before this trip.
Gazuev represented Russia and brought a regional kickboxing résumé that included a decision win over Muslim Zubairaev at Urartu Fighting Championship 5 in November 2024.
Friday was a step up in stage, if not in finish rate. Neither man found a stoppage, and the judges were asked to separate three rounds of flyweight kickboxing at the most famous venue in the sport.
That outcome fits the night around them. The same Bangkok doubleheader also saw Gump take a split decision over Velihan Palit and Petsiam T2A Waterubon stay unbeaten against Wang Zhongxian.
Kiamran Nabati then headlined The Inner Circle 31 with a unanimous decision over Nontachai Jitmuangnon.
Onodera’s teammate Retsu Sashida was booked in the other flyweight kickboxing bout against Edilson Rodrigues.
A Japanese win in that weight class on the Friday Fights platform is useful even without a knockout. The weekly shows are built to identify who can handle three rounds under the Lumpinee lights against imported opposition.
Onodera did that against a Russian opponent who came to press the issue rather than stall.
The decision does not by itself put him into a title conversation. It does keep him moving after a 6-1 start and a first run through ONE’s developmental system.
Gazuev now has to reset after dropping a judges’ fight on the road. Regional wins in Russia do not always travel when the venue is Lumpinee and the opponent is a young Japanese technician with a karate base.
ONE has not announced a follow-up for either man. Another Friday Fights date is the realistic next step if the promotion wants to see whether Onodera’s decision game holds against a different style.
The flyweight kickboxing pool in Bangkok is deep enough that one unanimous decision is a beginning, not a finish line.
Friday’s result is simple and official. Onodera outpointed Gazuev over three rounds, added a ONE win to a short professional ledger, and gave TEAM TEPPEN another name on the scoresheet at Lumpinee.
