Jessie Rosas Makes Weight for Noche UFC Debut Against Sean King
Jessie Rosas is officially on the Noche UFC scale and one walk from his first Octagon appearance. The 23-year-old featherweight checked in at 145.5 pounds on Friday in Glendale, then faced unbeaten newcomer Sean King at the ceremonial weigh-ins for Saturday’s card at Desert Diamond Arena.
The graphic on the broadcast listed a three-fight win streak, five first-round finishes, and six stoppages in eight career victories. The announcer framed the moment around family as Rosas came down the stairs.
“The 23-year-old is the older brother of Raul Rosas,” the commentator said. “Bigger card, bigger stage, he’s ready to roll.”
The official call confirmed the number that puts the bout on. “Official weight 145 and a half for Tachidito Jesse Rosas,” the announcer said.
Rosas (8-1) and King (6-0) are both making their UFC debuts on the preliminary card of the promotion’s fourth annual Mexican Independence Day event. The fight is booked at featherweight and streams on Paramount+, with prelims scheduled for 2 p.m. ET.
That pairing is the story as much as the scale. King, 22, fights out of the New Orleans area as “The King of New Orleans” and was originally pointed toward Dana White’s Contender Series in October before landing a direct roster spot. He is 6-foot with a 72-inch reach and has finished four of his six professional wins.
Rosas is the shorter southpaw with the heavier finishing résumé. Two of his wins came by knockout and four by submission, including armbars, an anaconda, and the arm-triangle that won him the UWC Mexico bantamweight title against Erick Ruano in June.
His only loss was a first-round rear-naked choke to Keenan Lewis in March 2024. He has won every fight since.
The debut almost happened a month earlier. Rosas was first signed to face Miles Johns at UFC Vegas 120 on Aug. 8, then withdrew during fight week and was released before the UFC put him back on this Glendale card opposite King.
That detour is why Friday’s weigh-in carried extra weight. He had never made an official UFC weight until this event, and the 145.5-pound mark closed the last administrative step between him and the cage.
The family line will follow him into the building. Raul Rosas Jr., the ranked UFC bantamweight, is the name most fans already know, and Jessie has said he is fine being introduced that way until his own results take over.
“It doesn’t bother me,” Rosas told MMA Fighting after his first signing. “I’ll take it if that’s what they want to know me for. In the future, they’ll know me for winning fights.”
He is the first of the fighting Rosas siblings to join Raul on the roster. He has also pointed to older brother Kevin and sister Kenya as prospects still outside the promotion.
The stare-down after the scale was short and clean. King and Rosas met in the center with a referee between them, then broke without incident as both men posed for the cameras.
King’s size is the clearest physical contrast. At 6 feet, he has a four-inch height edge and a longer reach against a fighter listed around 5-foot-7 to 5-foot-9, depending on the official sheet. Rosas’s path has been grappling-first, and five of his eight wins ended in the first round.
The betting market has treated King as the favorite, a reflection of the undefeated record and the recent finishing streak through Fury FC. Rosas is the plus-money debutant with more professional fights and the championship win in Mexico three months ago.
Noche UFC is built around Mexican and Mexican American talent, which makes this a natural landing spot even after the August false start. Jean Silva vs. Jose Miguel Delgado headlines the night, with Brandon Moreno vs. Joseph Morales in the co-main, but the prelims are where two first-time UFC fighters get their opening look.
A win would give Rosas the result he said he wanted when he first got the call. On his UFC profile, he called the contract “a dream come true but just the beginning.”
Raul is already booked again. He headlines UFC Fight Night on Sept. 26 in Las Vegas against Raoni Barcelos, which means the brothers could be active in the same month if Jessie gets through Saturday.
First he has to get through King. The weight is done, the faceoff is done, and the only number left is the one that will be attached to his UFC record when the prelims begin in Glendale.
