Stan Dorsainvil Wins UFC Debut by Unanimous Decision in Sacramento
Stan Dorsainvil won his UFC debut by unanimous decision over Gauge Young, taking every scorecard 29-28 on the UFC Sacramento prelims. The undefeated lightweight went the full 15 minutes at Golden 1 Center and left with a 6-0 record and a 1-0 mark in the Octagon.
The bout closed three rounds at 5:00 and was officially scored a decision, matching the broadcast graphic from UFC Fight Night: Hernandez vs. Rodrigues. All three judges had it 29-28 for Dorsainvil.
Young fell to 11-4 overall and 2-2 in the UFC. The Kansas City product, nicknamed “Gee Money,” entered on a two-fight winning streak after decisions over Maheshate and Thiago Moises.
Dorsainvil, 26, listed Haiti on the broadcast and fights out of South Florida with Combat Club. He is nicknamed “The Drill” and made the walk as a short-notice replacement after Kody Steele withdrew.
He was an underdog in most pre-fight markets. Young had the UFC experience, the recent wins, and the community lean, while Dorsainvil was making his first appearance against a man who had already beaten a former title challenger in Moises.
The opening round belonged to Young. He landed a left hook that staggered Dorsainvil, forcing the debutant to recover and fire back before the bell.
Dorsainvil answered over the next two rounds. He used knees in close, secured a trip takedown, and briefly took Young’s back before the veteran scrambled free.
Young finished the third with a late takedown of his own. It was not enough to sway the official cards, which all went 29-28 to the newcomer.
Referee Mike Beltran oversaw a close lightweight fight that never needed a finish to hold attention. Dorsainvil’s pace and scrambling carried the later minutes after he had to survive that early left hook.
The result fits a small sample that was already built on finishing and cardio. Three of Dorsainvil’s first five wins came by first-round guillotine, one was a unanimous decision at LFA 188, and his last regional fight was a third-round TKO of Dan Holt at LFA 233 in May.
That Holt stoppage also came on short notice. Saturday was a larger version of the same test: limited prep, a step up in competition, and 15 minutes against a pressure striker who had already gone the distance in the UFC.
Young’s path into the fight was the opposite. He was 2-1 in the promotion, trains at Ignite Jiu Jitsu & MMA, and had just taken a split decision from Moises in April.
A Contender Series loss to Quillan Salkilld and a UFC debut defeat to Evan Elder were already on his ledger. The Dorsainvil loss snaps a modest climb and drops him back to .500 in the Octagon.
Dorsainvil now has two decisions among six professional wins. The first was against Cedric Katambwa in 2024, the fight he has pointed to as proof he could last with better competition.
He earned a Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt last October and still came in with a reputation as a finisher. Winning a tight three-rounder on debut, after eating a heavy shot in Round 1, is a different kind of statement than a first-round choke.
The Stan Dorsainvil unanimous decision does not place him in the official lightweight rankings. Justin Gaethje holds the 155-pound title, and Dorsainvil remains an unranked prospect with one UFC fight.
It does put a name on a deep division that constantly cycles in regional talent. A 6-0 debutant who can win ugly after a late replacement is the kind of result matchmakers remember when the next lightweight slot opens.
No next opponent has been announced for either man. Dorsainvil’s immediate standing is simple: unbeaten, 1-0 in the UFC, and through the hardest 15 minutes of his career.
