Ryan Gandra Stops Ozzy Diaz, Calls Out Israel Adesanya
Ryan Gandra needed 2:04 to finish Ozzy Diaz and then asked Israel Adesanya not to run.
The Brazilian middleweight scored a TKO by punches at 2:04 of Round 1 on Saturday at UFC 331 inside Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles.
He spent the opening minute circling, kicking low, and waiting. Once he stepped in, the combination pinned Diaz to the fence, an overhand right put him down, and the follow-up shots forced referee Jonathan Romero to wave it off.
Joe Rogan noted the pattern immediately. Every UFC appearance Gandra has made has ended in the first round.
Gandra started with the city that just watched him work.
“Hey, Los Angeles!” he said. “I love you, Los Angeles is beautiful!”
Then he explained the finish the way his camp talks about it.
“I love to elevate my team,” Gandra said. “There’s a great team behind me. We’re aggressive when needed, but we’re the kings of patience. It’s all about timing, we found the timing.”
Rogan asked who he wanted next after three straight knockouts. Gandra did not hedge.
“Adesanya, don’t run from me!” he said. “I’m here, one time or another, we’re gonna beat each other. I’m the nightmare of this division. Let’s dance, baby!”
The callout is a leap. Adesanya is a former two-division champion. Gandra is 3-0 in the UFC and has not been in the Octagon past the first round.
The résumé is still loud. He stopped Jose Medina in Round 1 on Feb. 28, then finished Zach Reese at 1:15 of Round 1 at UFC 329 on July 11.
Saturday made it three. Combined UFC fight time sits under five minutes.
Gandra is now 11-1 overall. The only loss on his record came before the current 10-fight winning streak that includes a Contender Series knockout of Trent Miller in August 2025.
Diaz dropped to 10-5 and 1-3 in the UFC. The Los Angeles middleweight had been stopped by Ateba Abega Gautier in May and never found a foothold once Gandra committed to the blitz.
Patience was the setup. Power was the finish. That is the version of “Problema” the middleweight division keeps seeing in 2026.
A first-round stoppage of Diaz does not put Gandra in a title fight. It does put him on the short list of 185-pounders who end nights before judges sit down.
Whether the UFC treats the Adesanya line as a booking or a sound bite is the next question. Gandra already said he is here and ready to dance.
